3″ and 5″ 37mm Aluminum Hulls

These aluminum hulls are available in both 3″ and 5″ lengths. Typically, the longer lengths are used for larger payloads such as those that are required for smoke rounds.

They will take many reloading cycles.

Both shells accept a standard #209 Shotgun primer and have a unique recessed pocket so that the primer lies flush against the head of the hull.  The precision machining of these hulls makes sure that the primers are held securely in the pocket.  They will not fall out until you decap the hull.  We have had reports that Remington primers are a bit too small in diameter to be seated snugly.  If you wish to use the Remington brand you might have to use either a piece of tissue paper around the primer or, alternatively, seal the primer with clear nail polish.

Importantly, there is an integral bushing machined into each hull.  These bushings have two purposes.  First they allow for the same positioning of the payload time and time again vis a vis the powder charge. They also keep the cannon fuse part of the payload safely above the base of the shell so that it does not get crushed.

The volume of the powder chamber is .22 cubic inches which is more than sufficient for most applications.  This volume translates to the grain amounts shown in the table below.
